Crashing on launch

If the game closes or freezes right after it starts, remove old game files and let the launcher download a clean copy again.

Delete the mods folder and re-add the required files.
Confirm you are running the version the server expects.
Update your Java and graphics drivers.

Missing or broken mods

Mods that fail to load usually come from a missing dependency or a version mismatch between the modpack and your launcher profile.

Re-download the modpack from your launcher.
Check the log file for the first error line.
Disable extra mods one by one to find the offender.

Textures and rendering errors

Missing blocks, pink-and-black squares or flickering shaders are usually a resource-pack or graphics setting problem.

Reload the resource pack after it is added.
Lower render distance if the world stutters.
Turn off shaders to test the base world first.

Connecting to the Server

Connectivity

Launch the game with the same modpack and version the server is running, so that your mods match the ones installed on the server.
Open the multiplayer menu and choose to add the server with its address, then save it to your server list.
Join the server and wait for the connection to finish loading the world and mods.
If the connection fails, restart the game once and try the same address again.
Check the server information page for the current server address and version notes.
